Terms and conditions of your English dot Community membership

Conduct and behaviour within our community spaces:

English dot Community is an in-person and online learning community with members of many different cultural backgrounds, ethnicities, religions, gender identities and sexual orientations. We are a truly global community, so you will likely encounter conversations and situations that are different from those you might encounter in your own cultural context.

We strive to create a fair, tolerant and safe community for all of our members, and believe that the safety of the whole community is more important than the personal biases, discomfort and prejudices of any one member.

Everyone is welcome to join us, and while it is not necessary to agree with every belief held by other members, we ask that you treat them with respect and tolerance.

For instance, if you are not comfortable with transgender or queer people, or if you are not open to working with people from the opposite gender, you will probably not be comfortable in our community, and we ask you to reconsider your membership with us. We will always prioritise creating safe spaces for all, especially those members of our community who may not find this open tolerance in their everyday lives.

It is not appropriate to make suggestive or sexual comments in our spaces, including private messages. This includes making comments on someone’s appearance. If your intention is to find a romantic partner, please seek clear consent from the other person and take the conversation to another platform. Anyone making unwanted romantic or sexual advances towards others will be removed from the space.

Furthermore, we have members whose English learning journey is at different stages. We will not tolerate any criticism or negative comments on someone’s English level.

We reserve the right to remove any member whose behaviour we believe disrespects or belittles another member. We reserve the right to act on our own discretion in such matters. Depending on the severity of the situation, a warning may or may not be given.

Any complaints about other members’ conduct should be reported to administration as soon as possible so that we can deal with it quickly and appropriately.

Payments:

Our monthly and yearly Access memberships are both ongoing subscriptions. You will be charged on a regular basis until you cancel.

Our membership payments are managed via. Thrivecart, Stripe and Paypal. You can manage your membership subscription via the footer of the sign-up and payment emails you receive from us.

Yearly members, you will be sent an email from us a week prior to your membership renewal to remind you. Please make sure that our emails are set up to land in your inbox, not your junk mail!

Any price increases will not affect present members.

Refunds:

We really hope that you will love studying with us. However, we do have a refund policy in place if you change your mind.

Monthly members are entitled to a refund of their first payment within seven days of joining up.

Yearly members are entitled to a full refund within 14 days of joining up.

In cases in which a member has been removed for misconduct or inappropriate behaviour, we reserve the right to judge each refund on a case-by-case basis.

Set-up and onboarding:

In order to get the most out of our platforms and resources, it will be necessary for us to go through a set-up process to enroll you in our services.

Please make sure that you can receive any emails from @englishdotcommunity.com in your inbox, not your junk mail.

We thank you for your patience and understanding during the onboarding period.
