(AN ADVANCED READING LESSON)
We all know what Valentine’s Day is (and it’s tomorrow!) but have you ever heard of Galentine’s Day (which is, in fact, today)? No?Â
What about Malentine’s day?Â
Well … you probably haven’t, because it turns out that, generally speaking, men tend to be a little less inclined to celebrate the platonic love relationships in their lives.
This week’s lesson is based on an article from The Conversation that takes a careful look at this trend and tries to explain it, to some extent. You can read the article here: Galentine’s Day has become a thing – why hasn’t Malentine’s Day?
Whether or not you’ve got Valentine’s Day plans, I hope this lesson inspires you to get out there with your mates and plan some Galentine’s or Malentine’s Day celebrations.
Especially you, men of English dot Community. Get out there and hug your mates. 😊Â
Oh, and Happy Valentine’s Day!
