(AN ADVANCED READING LESSON)
It’s no secret that Covid-19 has been a disaster for the global tourism industry. However, it has also given us an opportunity to reflect on the advantages and disadvantages of global tourism, and to make some changes to minimise its negative impact.
One such aspect of tourism is Airbnb. Over the last few years, Airbnb’s growth has presented huge challenges for local residents and officials. A lot of people see the pandemic as a chance to set things right.
This lesson is about the immediate future of Airbnb, and the small window of opportunity that exists for cities to improve the situation.
It’s based on this article from The Guardian: Airbnb slump means Europe’s cities can return to residents, say officials.
I hope you enjoy this lesson and find it interesting. I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Thanks!
