(AN ADVANCED LISTENING LESSON)
Most of us are familiar with Michelle Obama from her time as First Lady of the USA, and perhaps from her work and writing since then. She’s someone who holds a lot of strong views on social justice issues, particularly education.
This lesson is based on an early TED Talk she gave to an audience schoolgirls given on her first visit to the UK as First Lady back in 2009. It covers a lot of information about her own upbringing and how this has informed her views about education, especially education for women and girls.
You can watch the TED Talk here: A passionate, personal case for education
I hope you enjoy this talk and the worksheet I’ve made. I’d love to hear any reflections you have about your own upbringing and education.
Happy studying!
