(AN ADVANCED READING LESSON)
I’m pretty sure that most of you will know who Coco Chanel is, but even if you don’t, you’ll probably be familiar with her high-end brand, Chanel, and its iconic logo.
The Chanel brand is synonymous with timeless elegance and minimalism. In her lifetime, Coco Chanel changed many things, not only about how women dress, but also about how they think about style altogether.
Chanel, who passed away in the 1970s, has been outlived by her brand and many of her products. Next month, Chanel No. 5, which is her most famous fragrance (and possibly the most famous fragrance in the world) turns 100!
In this lesson, we’ll read an article about the milestone 100th birthday of No.5. You can read the article here: ‘Smell like a woman, not a rose’: Chanel No. 5 100 years on, an iconic fragrance born from an orphanage
I hope you enjoy this lesson and next time you’re in the perfume section of a department store, go have a smell of No.5 with a whole new appreciation for its origins.
See you in the classroom!
